How to Create a Flat lay with Your Phone!

You've seen those posts on Instagram, right? You know the ones - perfectly placed items, all laying together, glowing on a white surface - enticing you to buy whatever small shop item you happen to be scrolling by.

Flat lays are seriously gold to me as a small shop owner, they look amazing as a way to break up a "brand rep" feed, and they are a great way to show off your favorite small shop items as a customer and gain recognition from the shop!

But here's the thing, we don't all have the perfect accessories to build the most epic flat lay each time - I have the solution to that issue - the "photoshopped" flat lay or you can also call it a digital flat lay!

Want to master the art of sharing your favorite toddler fashions, capture product photography that makes companies seek collabs, or maybe you're hoping to up the quality of your fashion blogger instagram feed? Here's how I make our digital flat lays in just a few steps.

Let's start with the apps, you'll want to download both the "PhotoLayers" app and the "Background Eraser" app - as an android user. Both are fairly basic apps, but they obviously pack a lot of power when it comes to a achieving a clean & beautiful "digital flat lay" look!

Next, you'll search for your products you'll want to include. I went with a romper I found on the Macy Kate Boutique, a pair of denim from Roses in December, a bracelet from TR tidbits, a pair of Baseball Moccs from Monkey Feet and lastly, a bow made out of a real baseball from my shop - Bloomology!

The one thing that's most important when selecting items to include is the lighting and the angle of the photo. Backgrounds will be erased but bad lighting won't be. If you have trouble finding items to include check out a hashtag on instagram that is similar to what you are seeking such as 'baseballbracelet' or search on facebook! If you are a member of Together We Rep, I highly suggest searching in there for items to include as well!

Once you've selected what items you want to include in your flat lay, go ahead and start erasing all the backgrounds in the background eraser app. You start by loading your image and then cropping, then your on the page to begin erasing. This is the most time consuming part of creating a flat lay but I promise it's a skill you'll pick up quickly!

I've found a recent love for the "magic" setting, I just go around the edges of whatever I want to crop out and then going back through and touching up any areas I accidentally erased with the "relief" tool. You can also use the manual tool to go over the edges of your items or use the auto tool whenever you see it'll be an "easier" crop (this tool works amazing on white background photos).
Be sure to thoroughly go over each edge on an item, then when saving I usually save as a level 2 smooth edge blend! Select whichever looks best for your edit! Repeat for each item.

Now that you have all of your items 'cropped', it's time to assemble them in the 'photo layers' app. You'll want to find a "plain white background" or whatever you prefer to use to upload first. Next you'll 'add photo' and include each item, first 'cropping', then placing it on the white background!

While clicked on each item, you can adjust size and even edit the photo some(notice the bottom bar - select color or shadow).

Situate each item where you think it looks best and save!

Now your flat lay is ready to go, it's that easy!

After making this tutorial, I've actually found other apps that work just as well!

Check out PicsArt, it's one that actually combines both apps abilities and works perfectly! The idea behind creating a flat lay is still the same but you only have to use one app to do it!

3 Unique & Adorable Gerber Baby Apparel Looks for Your Toddler

Did you know Delainey is now a paid Brand Ambassador for Gerber Childrenswear?! What does that mean exactly? It is just is a fancy way of saying this post is sponsored... but as always, all opinions expressed below are mine alone!

https://www.walmart.com/search/?cat_id=0&facet=special_offers%3ANew%7C%7Cbrand%3AGerber&max_price=50&min_price=0&page=1&po=1&query=gerber+clothing+-+searchProductResult#searchProductResult

Alright y'all... let's be real, before I even had Delainey I always thought baby clothes were adorable... what girl doesn't? I knew I would love being a mama, but I really had NO IDEA how obsessed I would become!

https://www.walmart.com/search/?cat_id=0&facet=special_offers%3ANew%7C%7Cbrand%3AGerber&max_price=50&min_price=0&page=1&po=1&query=gerber+clothing+-+searchProductResult#searchProductResult

While Delainey and I always have a ton of fun doing all types of activities together, I'll be the first to admit - we love playing dress up... and I do mean "we". This girl loves bows, clothes, and shoes, just like her mama. So she's always willing to get her sassy pants on and run around the yard while I take some pictures.

With that said, today we want to show how versatile the coordinating Gerber sets from Walmart are, more specifically we are going to show you how we style our onesies for fall, from bow to toe - in 3 completely different ways.

https://www.walmart.com/search/?cat_id=0&facet=special_offers%3ANew%7C%7Cbrand%3AGerber&max_price=50&min_price=0&page=1&po=1&query=gerber+clothing+-+searchProductResult#searchProductResult

Some may say babies don't have "style", if that's the case - they haven't met this baby! She's full of style and sass and these three Gerber looks show it:

We'll start with the simple pretty in pink look. This one is possibly my favorite, it's classic with a twist of fun. For this look, I paired White Pearls & Lace distressed jeans with her pink striped Gerber onesie and a Bloomology bow. We finished the look with a pink rose bib and some grey converse and she was set for a day on the go with daddy.

This look is pretty much an everyday outfit for Miss Delainey and it should be for your babe too. Since the Gerber coordinated baby apparel collection is available at Wal-mart at a super affordable price, every girl should own a handful of these classic onesies.

Whether you're currently expecting or dealing with a fun little feisty toddler, like me, the Gerber apparel collection offers just what you are looking for...

On that note, the next look we have is this "Sweet Baby Blues" preciousness. Delainey is showing off in her "Sweet" blue onesie. Paired with some polka dot leg warmers and a glitter bow, this look is perfect for hanging around the house and chasing her pup from room to room!

https://www.walmart.com/search/?cat_id=0&facet=special_offers%3ANew%7C%7Cbrand%3AGerber&max_price=50&min_price=0&page=1&po=1&query=gerber+clothing+-+searchProductResult#searchProductResult

Plus, with her baby blue eyes, I can't get enough of this gorgeous blue color... we MUST have more and luckily, there's other items in the coordinating collection that match it!

And the last look we're going to share today is her punk rock princess persona. I'm not even joking when I say she loved the way she looked in this outfit. From giving herself a smooch in the mirror to giggling the whole time we played in the backyard, I think this look was D's absolute favorite.

We paired a purple Gerber hat, with a fun floral print Gerber Onesie, and a coordinating tu-tu that we just happened to have... but isn't it beyond perfection with this print? We completed the look with a fun bubble necklace, some Gerber socks, and another pair of Converse!

Cozy & Stylin' in Gerber Childrenswear this fall [ & our DIY Native American Costume]

I'm super excited to share that Delainey and I are now paid Brand Ambassador for Gerber Childrenswear! What does that mean exactly? It is just is a fancy way of saying this post is sponsored, as always all opinions expressed below are mine alone!

http://bit.ly/2wgF9jb

Y'all, D will be 14 months old in a few days and I seriously can not even believe it.

http://bit.ly/2wgF9jb

I swear I blink and she grows an inch, I turn around and a few weeks have passed by.

http://bit.ly/2wgF9jb

Time is flying by, but I think that's because we have so much fun together. From going on nature walks to reading books before bedtime, one thing I know I can count on with D is that we will have a good time!

http://bit.ly/2wgF9jb

With that said, my little wild wanderer likes to be comfy for all of our adventures and I like to make sure she looks fashionable while also ensuring she stays nice and warm now that the temperatures are cooling off. That's where Gerber comes into the picture.

http://bit.ly/2wgF9jb

My tiny little diva and I can settle on Gerber because their items are comfy enough to satisfy her need for cozy and they keep her warm and stylish with animals prints and creative designs. When we put Gerber one her, it's definitely a win-win in our home!

http://bit.ly/2wgF9jb

Wholesome, adorable, comfortable, affordable and well-made - Gerber Childrenswear is a staple in Delainey's wardrobe.

http://bit.ly/2wgF9jb

The best part, though? It's all offered in coordinating sets available at Walmart!

http://bit.ly/2wgF9jb

Whether you need towels, onesies, sleepers, socks, beanies, or more... Gerber has it! They're ALL available at Walmart and I love that we were able to get our hands on this bear-y cute collection. We can easily transition from naptime, to bathtime, to playtime in Gerber.

http://bit.ly/2wgF9jb

So tell me, what items do you need to add to your Gerber stash? We have more socks and sleepers on our list, but I'll be honest and admit we would love more of everything.

http://bit.ly/2wgF9jb

And on that note, here's one of our favorite ways we dressed up this month... partly because it's a super cute costume, but also because it was so cozy for D!

http://bit.ly/2wgF9jb

To copy this costume you'll need a set of Gerber Childrenswear onesies, a skirt like this one from Peekabippy Designs, and a cute little feather bow like this one from Bloomology! Paired with some socks and moccasins, this little native is ready to trick or treat... and she's getting in touch with our "roots", which is pretty neat too!

The Cutest Part Time Super Hero - Superhero Baby Costume Inspiration!

Y'all, we've almost made it to Halloween and if I'm being honest, it has been difficult to come up with an original costume idea and post daily... as you've probably noticed.

I'm doing my best to come up with some creative ideas and luckily D has a pretty good attitude about playing dress up so we are having fun with it!

Now that she is walking, taking photos of her has become a whole different ball game though... it's more like me chasing her around everywhere while she has fun exploring.

Watching her face light up when she sees a bird is probably one of my favorite things, in the world... and the way she studies leaves and blades of grass is something else. She looks at ants with wonder and squeals with delight if she sees a squirrel.

It's pretty cool looking at the world through the eyes of a child.

And, let me be frank, she isn't just any child.

She's a super kid and I mean, being a super hero isn't an easy job... but someone has to do it.

Luckily, this little gal has made the time to help save the world.

From saving the day to finishing the food on her tray, this is one super baby.

This Little Piggy! DIY Baby Piglet Halloween Costume!

This little piggy had roast beef, this little piggy had none, and... this little piggy named Delainey couldn't be any cuter... or more comfortable!

This costume ranks as the most casual and comfortable, possibly... but it's a winner as far as the level of adorable it is!

The best part...? Almost anyone can make a little pig snout. It's literally a cylinder, with a circle attached, and two ovals inside of it. Attach it to a wooden dowel or some elastic, throw a couple pink triangles on a headband and your little piggy is set to snort all night!

The outfit for our piggy costume was, again, all items we already had laying around the house! A jacket from Carter's, a Hot Pink The Baby Bird Boutique Romper, light pink Sew Sassy Icings, Pink Converse, and of course, the ears and snoot were made by yours truly, Bloomology Boutique.

This little ham is definitely the cutest and loved running around growling in this costume, because she thinks all animals growl... and that's just down right ridiculously cute.

Wanna impress your friends "pig" time? Throw together some of your favorite pink items from your sweet girls closet and add a homemade pig snout and your cute little piggy is ready to go!

I'm getting so excited Halloween is just around the corner... aren't you? So tell me, what do you have planned for everyone's favorite holiday full of tricks and treats? What will your little one be dressing up as? I hope we've help inspire you to get creative with your costume this year!
